A brief History

The Bodo evangelical Lutheran Church story began in 1970 by the Lt Rev. MohindraNarzary, a young Pastor who was deeply moved by his spirit having experiences of being left out and felt that the Santal Leaders did not care much to the Bodo Christian even though the Bodo are very active in every aspect. So some important leaders got together and start praying that how can the Bodo people will have a Freedom to act and have chances to lead their own people. The reason is that The BELC wanted to have Their own identity of culture, creed and languages in the Christianity and in the society as well as in the Lutheran World Family. Of course,previously the BELC was known as a National Bodo Lutheran Church. The General Church Council has decided to change the name because the purpose is to evangelize To the whole Bodo nation so the amendment was made and rename the church organization From NBLC to BELC in 1989 12thJannuary. So the BELC has been doing accordingly great till today.
